Islamabad: (RightNow) An investigative report on the fire at PIMS Hospital, which resulted in the deaths of 14 newborns, has been released. The report attributes the fire to administrative failure at the hospital.
The report states that 14 newborns died due to the fire, while one child survived. It highlights that fire safety deficiencies had been previously identified at the hospital.
The investigative committee revealed that the hospital lacked an effective fire detection system. Although the staff attempted to respond during the fire, safety measures were incomplete.
According to the report, staff tried to save the children. Nurse Razia Noreen risked her life to save one child. The report also pointed out the lack of a proper safety system.
