Washington: (RightNow) The US claims to have destroyed Iranian oil tankers near the Gulf of Oman. In retaliation, Iran launched missile attacks on a US military base in Jordan.

According to US officials, the attack on Iranian ships was in response to attempts to launch ballistic missiles at a US warship. The Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for targeting US bases and naval ships in Jordan.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards further claimed to have destroyed US F-35 and F-15 hangars in Jordan. US personnel were instructed to evacuate immediately.

Following the escalation, global crude oil prices surged to $99 per barrel. The US Central Command reported that the Revolutionary Guards attempted to target the warship twice in two days.

It is noteworthy that Iranian foreign affairs have labeled these attacks as violations of the UN Charter, while the US Secretary of State stated that every attack against Iran will be answered.
