New York: (RightNow) World No. 1 tennis player Aryna Sabalenka complained about the smell of cannabis disrupting her game at the US Open. She was playing against Uzbekistan’s Kamila Rakhimova in the third round.

Belarusian Sabalenka reported the cannabis odor to the umpire during the match. She stated that the smell was so strong it was difficult to concentrate on the game.

Sabalenka told reporters she has no issue with people enjoying themselves, but it should not be near the court. She explained that the strong wind carried the odor to the court.

It is important to note that recreational cannabis use is legal in New York, but it is prohibited in the tennis stadium. The smell from Flushing Meadows Park reaches the stadium.

American player Jessica Pegula also expressed concerns about this issue. Everyone should respect tennis etiquette.
