Islamabad: (RightNow). An avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan’s northern regions has claimed the lives of 10 climbers, including British-Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja.

Nirmal Purja’s company, Elite Expeditions, confirmed that the 43-year-old died in the incident while leading an international expedition.

According to Pakistani authorities, climbers from the USA, Oman, and Nepal are among the deceased. Rescue teams are conducting operations to locate missing climbers.

It is noteworthy that Nirmal Purja set a world record in 2019 by climbing the world’s 14 highest peaks in 189 days, earning him global fame.

Remember, Nirmal Purja served in the British Army for 16 years, including in the Special Forces, and was awarded an MBE in 2018.
