Islamabad: (RightNow) The Election Commission decides to use artificial intelligence (AI) in the electoral process. New code of conduct proposals have been issued for political parties, media, and observers.
The Election Commission has sought suggestions from the public and political parties to prevent AI misuse in elections. Proposed codes of conduct have been provided to political parties.
Proposed amendments state that political parties, candidates, and supporters cannot publish AI-generated content without clear labeling. Deepfakes and synthetic content must have clear indicators.
These regulations will also apply to media houses, allowing them to use AI for content generation and analysis. PEMRA and other bodies will monitor AI content.
It is noteworthy that amendments to the 2023 code of conduct have been requested by November 20. The importance of AI reforms is increasing.
