Islamabad: (RightNow) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held an informal meeting with opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai. The meeting invited renewed dialogue on political and constitutional matters.

On Thursday, during a joint session of Parliament, the two leaders engaged in a whispered conversation. The Prime Minister expressed concern over the delay in appointing Election Commission members.

The Prime Minister urged Mahmood Achakzai to prioritize resolving the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner. Mahmood Achakzai listened quietly and nodded in agreement.

This meeting took place following the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which Parliament endorsed. The emergency was enforced under Article 232 of the Constitution.

It is noteworthy that President Asif Zardari announced the emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 11, which was subsequently approved by Parliament.
