Peshawar: (RightNow) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claims the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi and provincial president Junaid Akbar. This claim follows the imposition of Governor Rule and emergency by President Asif Ali Zardari in the province.

PTI’s provincial president Junaid Akbar announced the arrest via his official X account. However, there has been no official confirmation or denial of the arrest.

Social media videos show PTI’s long march with the Chief Minister’s container left empty on the road. It is claimed that the Chief Minister and workers disappeared from Charsadda, leaving the container.

On Sunday, the federal cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved the imposition of Governor Rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.

It is noteworthy that following the federal cabinet’s approval, President’s endorsement allows Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi to take administrative control. Emergency measures have been enacted in certain districts under Article 232.
