Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasizes terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the main issue, not the PTI protest.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi states that the federal government is not worried about the PTI protest, but the real issue is terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He further mentioned that the People’s Party had set a condition to postpone the protest, not the government.
The Interior Minister explained that the decision to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not easy. The government tried to take the provincial government into confidence. According to him, this is not an issue of one government alone; both federal and provincial governments need to work together.
Mohsin Naqvi said that negotiations with PTI took place, but no consensus was reached. The government had already initiated contact with PTI. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attempted to meet opposition leaders, but no result was achieved.
It is important to note that the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is deteriorating. Mohsin Naqvi reported that conditions in 12 districts of the province are worsening, and there is an increase in the martyrdom of security personnel.
The Interior Minister stated that the government has decided to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He emphasized that the provincial government must cooperate in the fight against terrorism. The federal government is making all efforts to resolve this issue.
