Rawalpindi: (RightNow) All water tankers in Rawalpindi have been moved to Taxila to supply water to police officers for the PTI long march. This has disrupted water supply in urban areas of Rawalpindi.

PTI has postponed its long march, but the water tankers have not been recalled. WASA tankers, usually used for supplying water to residents, are absent, causing distress among citizens.

The government has deployed 43,200 police officers to meet the needs, with 30,700 in Attock, 10,600 in Rawalpindi, and others in different districts.

The water shortage in Rawalpindi is causing difficulties for residents. Due to the unavailability of WASA tankers, private tanker rates have increased. Citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with the situation.

It is noteworthy that residents were already facing water shortages before the suspension of WASA tanker services. The Managing Director of WASA stated that tankers will remain in Taxila as long as the police force is present.
