Tehran: (RightNow) Turkmenistan has denied entry to an Iranian plane into its airspace. Consequently, the Iranian flight had to return to Tehran.

According to Iranian Civil Aviation, the plane was urgently landed at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport. Majid Akhavan, spokesperson for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, confirmed the incident.

Iranian media reports that all Iranian airline flights to the United Arab Emirates have been canceled. Iranian officials stated that the UAE has not formally notified Iran about the suspension of flights.

According to the Iranian Civil Aviation spokesperson, Iranian flight schedules have been removed from the departure boards at UAE airports.

It is noteworthy that there have been tensions between Iran and Turkmenistan over air routes in the past, causing disruptions in flights.
