Islamabad: (Right Now News) In attempts to reach European countries, 335 Pakistanis have lost their lives in boat accidents. According to FIA documents, seven fatal boat accidents have been reported since June 2023. Despite the significant loss of life, illegal migration persists.

The report states that in the June 2023 accident en route to Greece, 226 Pakistanis were aboard, with 207 fatalities. Another incident in December 2024 affected 69 Pakistanis, resulting in 25 deaths.

In January 2025, an accident near Morocco involved 70 Pakistanis, while a February 2025 incident in Libya included 40 Pakistanis. These accidents collectively resulted in 23 deaths, with 13 survivors.

Documents indicate that during 2025 and 2026, four major accidents in Libya affected 102 Pakistanis, with 71 fatalities. According to the FIA, human smuggling networks are encouraging people to undertake these dangerous journeys.

It is important to note that the trend of taking the perilous ‘Dunki’ route for illegal migration is increasing. Due to the lack of legal pathways, people are risking their lives on these dangerous journeys.
