Karachi police thwarted Iranian currency smuggling, seizing 23.6 billion rials and arresting 9 suspects.
Karachi: (Right Now News) Karachi police successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle Iranian currency. During the operation, Iranian currency worth millions was seized, and 9 suspects were arrested.
According to the police, 23.6 billion Iranian rials were recovered in 236 bundles from the suspects. This led to the discovery of a large smuggling network involving multiple individuals.
Authorities have stated that among those arrested is an official from the CTD Balochistan, whose credentials are being verified. Two vehicles were also confiscated.
DIG South Asad Raza termed this operation a significant step against inter-provincial smuggling. He mentioned that further investigations are ongoing, with major revelations expected.
It is noteworthy that the case has been recommended for transfer to the FIA’s Commercial Banking Circle for further investigation, and it is likely to be handed over to the FIA.
