Islamabad: (RightNow) The federal government introduces new Tosha Khana rules. Under these, officials cannot personally keep gifts valued up to $300 after paying the estimated price.

A committee will decide which valuable and diplomatic gifts are exempt from public auction. This committee, led by the Cabinet Secretary, includes representatives from various ministries.

A comparative review of the 2023 and 2026 Tosha Khana rules shows that valuable gifts must now be deposited in Tosha Khana. Arrangements for open auctions of these gifts are also made.

New rules introduce additional safeguards for determining the value of valuable gifts. The Federal Board of Revenue and private sector experts will assess the market value of gifts.

It is noteworthy that proceeds from the auction will be used to promote girls’ education in underprivileged areas. These rules aim for transparency and fair distribution of valuable gifts.
