The government raises petroleum prices due to global oil market surge, increasing inflation concerns.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has increased petroleum product prices. According to the notification issued by OGRA, petrol prices have risen by 88 paisas and diesel by 53 paisas.
The notification states that the price per liter of petrol is now Rs. 382.02, and diesel is Rs. 389.80. This price hike will take effect from November 21.
A government spokesperson stated that the decision was made due to rising crude oil prices in the global market. Brent crude oil prices have surpassed $110 per barrel.
This move may increase the inflation burden on the public, as higher petroleum prices affect the cost of daily goods.
It is noteworthy that last week, the government had reduced petrol prices, but the increase in global oil prices necessitated another hike.
