JUI has rejected the 48-member council in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, instructing members to resign.
Peshawar: (RightNow) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has rejected the district-level committees established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The party leadership has instructed its members to resign from these committees immediately.
A 48-member council was formed in the tribal and adjacent districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The purpose of this council is to provide local population representation in developmental decisions and oversee affairs.
JUI has refused to take representation in this council, stating that the decision was made under the leadership’s directive. The party has emphasized that no member should be part of the committee.
Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman has directed all provincial organizations to ensure that no JUI member joins the committee. He stated that it is essential to resign immediately.
It is noteworthy that JUI has often criticized government decisions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The disagreement over local representation is not new.
