FBR’s simplified tax scheme for retailers struggles despite extended deadline to October 31, 2026.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) tax scheme for retailers is facing setbacks. The deadline for filing income tax returns has been extended to October 31, 2026.
So far, only 1,571 retailers have submitted returns under the simplified tax scheme. The FBR extended the deadline from October 15 to October 31, 2026.
The FBR aims to allow more taxpayers to benefit from the extension until October 31.
A total of 6.9 million returns have been received, with taxes amounting to 72 billion rupees paid.
It is noteworthy that during the same period last fiscal year, 5.2 million returns were filed, but the tax amount paid was higher.
