Islamabad: (RightNow) Defense Minister Khawaja Asif indicates the possibility of extending the governor rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He mentions that the extension could be from 3 to 6 months.

Khawaja Asif, speaking to the media outside Parliament, stated that the governor rule is currently in place for 6 months, but further extension is possible. He noted that there are no signs of protests, and looters have disappeared.

The Defense Minister added that the government made every effort for negotiations and provided ample time. According to him, attempts were made to resolve issues through dialogue.

Khawaja Asif claims that this decision has improved the law and order situation in the province, and conditions are under control since the implementation of governor rule.

It is noteworthy that the governor rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was imposed by the federal government on October 11. This decision was made due to deteriorating security conditions and increasing terrorist incidents.
