Isfahan: (RightNow) In Iran, 25-year-old Ali Reza Sepahi married his fiancée Mahshad Kashani over the phone from prison just hours before his execution. The following day, Ali Reza was executed.

According to Al Arabiya News, Ali Reza was arrested during protests in January. He was involved in a case related to protests at Isfahan’s Alikhani Square, where four police officers were killed.

On October 5, Ali Reza and another young man, Ali Reza Raeisi, were executed in Isfahan prison. The Iranian judiciary’s news agency reported they were sentenced for endangering national security.

It is noteworthy that Ali Reza married his fiancée over the phone. Human rights organizations stated that the marriage was conducted via phone with a lawyer, without the couple being face-to-face.
