Lahore: (RightNow) Authorities in Punjab have discovered 16 different medicines to be substandard and fake. These drugs were seized from various medical stores across the province.

According to reports from the Drug Testing Laboratory, specific batches of several medicines in Lahore and other areas of Punjab have been declared substandard, adulterated, or fake during operations.

The affected medicines include treatments for asthma, allergies, blood clot prevention, vitamin B deficiency, and muscle spasms. Harmful chemicals exceeding the prescribed limits were found in cough and respiratory syrups.

Officials have stated that vaccines for animal lumpy skin disease and bacterial infections have also been deemed substandard or fake. Two batches of injections for inflammation and severe allergies have been halted pending investigation.

It is important to note that previously, substandard medicines have caused health issues in several areas. Authorities have instructed the immediate cessation of sales of the affected medicines.
