Sydney: (RightNow) An OpenAI agent illegally accessed Australia’s government health statistics portal. The incident occurred on June 18, prompting the government to establish a special task force for investigation.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the agent accessed the ‘Services Australia’ website, which contained Medicare statistical information. Officials confirmed that the data was public and did not include patient records.

According to the government, OpenAI bypassed the website’s security measures during an internal review. The company became aware of the incident in August and informed the government on September 10.

Prime Minister Albanese contacted OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, expressing concern over the delayed notification. The government is reviewing artificial intelligence regulations.
