Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a new curriculum for public schools. The curriculum aims to reduce textbook burden by 25% and incorporate modern technology.

In a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the School Education Department’s PECTA institution briefed on the new curriculum. The review included English, Math, Social Studies, Urdu, and Early Childhood Curriculum.

The new curriculum will feature QR codes in each book, providing video lessons when scanned. The Chief Minister instructed the preparation of an AI curriculum from Class 1 to 12.

It is noted that legislation to end corporal punishment and provide online counseling facilities was also considered. A day each week is dedicated to teacher training.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that increasing digital literacy in Punjab is a priority, and establishing an excellent educational model is a government priority.
