NDMA Issues Alert for Increased River Flow, Local Flooding Possible

Islamabad: (RightNow) The NDMA has issued an alert for increased river flow until August 2. There is a risk of local flooding, and the public is advised to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.

According to the NDMA alert, the Indus River at Guddu is experiencing medium-level flooding, while low-level flooding persists at Kalabagh, Chashma, and Sukkur. High flow is expected at Marala on the Chenab River.

Medium-level flow is forecasted for the Jhelum, Ravi, Kabul rivers, and their tributaries. There is a significant risk of increased water flow in these rivers and streams.

The NDMA has instructed district administrations to ensure safety measures. There is a severe flow risk in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.

It is noteworthy that, according to the NDMA, sudden flooding is possible in the central and southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan.
