New York: (RightNow) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has called on the United Nations to take action against Iran and Yemen’s Houthi group. The GCC accuses these groups of endangering regional security and global maritime trade.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated at a UN Security Council meeting that Iran’s ballistic missile and drone attacks pose a threat to global peace. He also expressed concern over the Houthis’ threats to block the Bab al-Mandab strait.

He emphasized that these actions violate international laws and the UN Charter. The international community must act swiftly to ensure the freedom of maritime routes and protect energy infrastructure.

The GCC Secretary-General further accused Iran of attacking waterways and laying mines, affecting global shipping. He also alleged Iran’s attempts to block international trade routes.

It is noteworthy that the GCC has previously accused Iran of escalating tensions in the region. These recent demands are part of ongoing appeals for more effective international measures.
