Sixteen children diagnosed with HIV at Karachi’s Velika Hospital, prompting Sindh Ombudsman’s review.
Karachi: (RightNow) Sixteen children have been diagnosed with HIV at Karachi’s Kulsoom Bai Velika Hospital. Following this revelation, the Sindh Ombudsman reviewed the hospital’s performance.
Provincial Ombudsman Muhammad Sohail Rajput chaired a meeting on the matter. The meeting included the Sindh Labor Secretary, Commissioner SESSI, senior medical advisors, parents of affected children, and other relevant individuals.
It was reported in the meeting that more cases might emerge. Parents have complained about the hospital administration’s lack of cooperation and delays in treatment costs.
The Sindh Ombudsman stated that the hospital’s financial issues have contributed to the spread of HIV. He directed the appointment of expert doctors and other necessary measures at the hospital.
It is noteworthy that there has been an unusual increase in HIV cases among children in the past four months. According to the report, 30 auto-disable syringes were found to be substandard.
