Islamabad: (RightNow) The issue of daily price setting for petrol and diesel has caused a stir in Islamabad. Despite continuous meetings with Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz, representatives of petroleum dealers from Karachi and Lahore remain unconvinced.

Details reveal that back-to-back meetings were held with the Chairman of OGRA and the Secretary of Petroleum. The PPDA delegation met with Ali Pervaiz and then had a two-and-a-half-hour meeting with the OGRA Chairman.

During the meetings, representatives of petroleum dealers expressed strong reservations about the daily price setting. Vice Chairman of PPDA, Tariq Hassan, stated that OGRA has requested a 7-day grace period.

A central meeting of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association is scheduled in Karachi tomorrow. The meeting will decide whether to strike or grant OGRA the 7-day grace period. Dealers have demanded an 8% margin increase.

It is noteworthy that the representative organization of oil marketing companies, OCAC, has supported the government’s decision.
