Peshawar: (RightNow) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam announced that the province did not agree unconditionally to provide Rs 1100 billion to the federal government during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting. The agreement was conditional upon a meeting with the chairman.

During a press conference in Peshawar, Muzammil Aslam stated that the Prime Minister assured the meeting regarding the NFC Award. He emphasized that the provincial government will not compromise on protecting its constitutional rights.

Muzammil Aslam highlighted that the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting is required every three months, but they are not being held regularly. Pakistan urgently needs these meetings.

He further stated that it is the national leadership’s responsibility to convene the CCI meetings on time to resolve important federal and provincial matters constitutionally.

It is noteworthy that the recent CCI meeting was chaired by Ishaq Dar, but the responsibility for the next meeting lies with the federal government.
