PDMA has issued an alert for potential water release from Tarbela Dam, advising caution near Indus River.
Haripur: (Right Now News) An alert has been issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) regarding the potential release of excess water from Tarbela Dam. The water level in the Indus River is expected to rise in the next two days.
According to PDMA, the release of excess water will significantly increase the flow of the Indus River. Authorities in Haripur, Swabi, and Nowshera have been instructed to remain on high alert.
The district administration has warned local residents to avoid going near the banks of the Indus River. PDMA has advised citizens to refrain from swimming, boating, and fishing in the river.
These measures are taken to prevent potential risks. The release of excess water could lead to flooding in low-lying areas, posing a threat to local populations.
It is noteworthy that similar situations have occurred in the past due to rising water levels in Tarbela Dam. The public is urged to take precautionary measures.
