Peshawar: (Right Now News) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for potential glacier lake outbursts in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This alert is due to the intense heat and expected heavy rains next week.

According to PDMA, there is a risk of rapid glacier melting, increasing the threat of glacier lake outbursts, flash floods, and landslides. Affected areas include Upper and Lower Chitral, Swat, and others.

PDMA has instructed district administrations to implement safety measures. High alert and continuous monitoring in sensitive glacier areas have been emphasized.

Rescue agencies have been directed to remain prepared. Efforts will be made to inform affected populations timely and relocate them to safe locations.

It is noteworthy that PDMA has advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel. The public is urged to stay away from rain-fed streams during the rains.
