Peshawar: (RightNow) The Peshawar High Court has halted the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi. The court also suspended the notification to seal her official residence.

The Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar had issued a notice for Suraya Bibi to vacate the government house. The court issued these orders during a hearing on her lawyer’s petition.

A two-member bench has sought responses from the provincial Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police. Suraya Bibi’s lawyer stated that after the imposition of Governor’s Rule, the police raided her residence.

The lawyer argued that sealing the official residence is illegal despite the Governor’s Rule. The court was requested to restore access to the residence and provide protection from arrest.

It is important to note that this case also involves allegations of not returning a government vehicle. The Peshawar High Court’s orders are not final, and further action will depend on the authorities’ responses.
