Over 400 schools in France closed due to violent student protests against educational issues.
Paris: (RightNow) Over 400 educational institutions in France have been closed following violent student protests. The demonstrations are against educational issues, including deteriorating school conditions and a shortage of teachers.
Education Minister Edouard Geffray stated that approximately 400 schools will remain closed. The protests were initiated by left-wing parties, including La France Insoumise (LFI). Authorities report several injuries during the protests.
Officials revealed that two high schools were set on fire during the protests, while in Marseille, petrol was splashed on teachers at a school. In Strasbourg, a car was set ablaze, and clashes occurred between police and youths in Toulouse.
The protests challenge the government’s indifference towards educational issues. Students claim that poor school conditions and teacher shortages are affecting educational standards.
It is noteworthy that in July, students in India also protested against the deteriorating education system, leading to the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
