United States: (RightNow) The oldest dictionary in the U.S., Merriam-Webster, has added 1,400 new words. This move addresses the evolving language and the need for a modern lexicon.

The word ‘chili crisp,’ a favorite sauce among Chinese, is now part of English, while ‘parasocial’ is included for those experiencing one-sided love. These words reflect everyday life and societal trends.

Additionally, a beard only on the neck is termed ‘neckbeard,’ and the season before winter for finding a partner is called ‘cuffing season.’ These terms are gaining popularity among the youth.

This initiative is in response to language development and changing trends to meet modern demands. These new additions contribute to the diversity and expansion of the language.

It is noteworthy that the Merriam-Webster dictionary was established in 1831 and has played a significant role in documenting language changes since then.
