Rawalpindi: (RightNow) A tragic incident occurred in Gulistan Colony where a father drowned while trying to save his son from Nala Lai.

According to Rescue 1122, the incident happened around 10 AM when 7-year-old Zahid fell into the drain due to the absence of a protective wall.

The child’s father, Mehrban, aged between 35 and 40, jumped into the water to rescue his son but drowned due to the strong current.

Rescue 1122’s water rescue team immediately launched a search operation and recovered the father’s body, but the child Zahid remains missing.

It is noteworthy that during the monsoon, incidents of drowning in Rawalpindi’s Nala Lai are common, with 41 incidents reported in 2025.
