Islamabad: (RightNow). The Lawyers Action Committee announces a movement led by Ali Ahmed Kurd after judicial holidays. Advocate Hamid Khan stated in a press conference that the movement will officially begin post-holidays.
During the press conference, lawyers read a resolution expressing strong reservations about the current method of appointing high court judges. The resolution termed the judges’ interviews as a mockery.
Ali Ahmed Kurd stated that he accepted the leadership of the movement upon colleagues’ insistence. He mentioned that the issue is no longer limited to constitutional amendments but reflects a loss of public trust in the political system.
He further added that the public’s eyes are on Pakistan’s lawyers, and the movement will include public participation. The first public gathering will be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with an event also planned in London at the invitation of overseas Pakistanis.
It is noteworthy that the lawyers’ movement aims to bring reforms in the judicial system and restore public trust. Ali Ahmed Kurd was chosen to lead due to his experience and leadership skills.
