Monsoon rains in Punjab may cause urban flooding in several districts, warns PDMA.
Lahore: (RightNow) The second spell of monsoon rains is set to begin in Punjab tomorrow. Heavy rains with strong winds are forecasted for various districts in the province.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reports that the rain will continue from July 19 to 24. The risk of flooding in various areas increases due to heavy rainfall in a short period.
PDMA has warned of urban flooding in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Multan. Issues of water accumulation on roads, streets, and low-lying areas may arise.
Authorities indicate a risk of flash flooding in Murree, Galyat, and the Nala Lai regions. Relevant agencies have been instructed to remain prepared.
It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister of Punjab has ordered all relevant departments to stay on high alert. Citizens are urged to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.
