Islamabad: (RightNow) Heart attacks can occur even after a stent is placed in an artery. Experts state that stents are not a complete cure for heart disease.

According to cardiologists, stents only open the affected artery but do not address the underlying causes of the disease. If patients do not take care of their health, new arteries may become affected.

Dr. Anshul Kumar Jain has stated that stents should not be considered a permanent solution. They only restore blood flow but do not prevent fat buildup in the arteries.

After stent placement, quitting smoking, maintaining a balanced diet, and regular exercise are essential. Experts emphasize the importance of taking medications regularly.

It is important to note that heart disease progresses over time. Despite stents, new fat deposits can accumulate, increasing the risk of new blockages.
