Iqrarul Hassan’s physical remand extended by court amid anti-state content allegations.
Karachi: (RightNow) A judicial magistrate in East Karachi has extended Iqrarul Hassan’s physical remand by two more days. The court also dismissed the plea for discharge from the case.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) filed a case against Iqrarul Hassan on October 10, alleging the broadcast of anti-state content. The case includes various sections of the Electronic Crimes Act.
During the hearing, the defense lawyer argued that Iqrarul Hassan did not commit any illegal act. The lawyer stated that there was no false or misleading content in his client’s video.
The court rejected the defense lawyer’s plea, stating that investigative agencies will have two more days to interrogate the accused. The NCCIA’s lawyer argued that the agency can proceed with its own actions.
It is noteworthy that Iqrarul Hassan’s physical remand was initially approved on October 13. Subsequently, the session court also dismissed the defense’s plea.
