The White House defends Katie Zakaria amid questions about her legal credentials, with a California watchdog demanding an investigation.
Washington: (RightNow) The White House defends President Donald Trump’s new spokesperson, Katie Zakaria, amid questions about her legal credentials. A California watchdog organization has called for an investigation into Zakaria.
According to a British broadcasting agency, President Trump announced Zakaria’s appointment, referring to her as a lawyer, and Zakaria also claims to be one. However, when asked by a journalist about the state where she passed the bar exam, Zakaria responded, ‘China.’
Zakaria later clarified that she misunderstood the question, thinking it was about her post-education activities. She claims to have worked in international trade law.
It is important to note that obtaining a law degree in the U.S. does not equate to a law license. The California organization has demanded an investigation into Zakaria’s qualifications.
Zakaria was associated with the Zhong Lun Law Firm in Beijing from 2011 to 2013, where she worked on international trade law.
