Opposition challenges the presidential decision of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially escalating political tensions.
Peshawar: (RightNow) The opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announces a court challenge against the governor’s rule and emergency. After a meeting of opposition leaders in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan informed the media about approaching the Peshawar High Court.
Barrister Gohar stated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rejected the governor’s rule. The meeting was attended by leaders from PTI and other opposition parties.
The PTI Chairman declared October 11 as a dark day in the country’s history. He added that their party opposes terrorism and will continue protests for Imran Khan’s release.
It is clear that the President imposed an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 11, based on the Prime Minister’s advice. The government cited increasing terrorism incidents as the reason.
Remember, under the new constitutional setup, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has taken charge of the province. Provincial government powers have been suspended.
