Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has initiated the digital balloting for Phase Four of the Green Tractor Program. Additionally, an application portal for Phase Five has been launched.

Maryam Nawaz pressed the button for the draw at the Chief Minister’s House and congratulated the successful candidates. She also inspected locally manufactured tractors with 90 and 100 horsepower.

The Chief Minister was briefed that 19,500 green tractors will be provided this fiscal year. The Punjab government has set a subsidy of Rs 750,000 per tractor.

The Green Tractor Scheme has boosted agriculture and the tractor manufacturing industry in Punjab. Farmers are receiving subsidies up to Rs 1 million to improve their financial conditions.

It is noteworthy that in the past 20 years, 10,000 tractors were provided to farmers, while 35,000 were distributed in the last two and a half years. A total of Rs 20 billion has been spent on agricultural mechanization.
