Yemen: (RightNow) Recently, Houthi rebels have advanced in Yemen’s coastal areas using Toyota Hilux vehicles. The scenes resemble a Hollywood movie, with hundreds of pickups mounted with weapons.

Globally, the Toyota Hilux has become a favorite vehicle for fighters. Unlike armored vehicles, these regular pickup trucks are used in battlefields.

In 2015, U.S. counterterrorism officials asked Toyota how these vehicles reached fighters. The company cited secret routes and the second-hand market as reasons.

These vehicles are useful for fighters due to their speed and easy repair. Their use proved successful in the wars in Libya and Chad.

It is important to note that Toyota does not directly sell these vehicles to fighters; instead, they are bought and sold through secret channels.
