Islamabad: (RightNow) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a crucial meeting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s security. The meeting will be held today at the Prime Minister’s House to consider the imposition of an emergency.
Sources report that key federal ministers and senior officials from the Ministry of Interior will attend. Officials will provide a detailed briefing on the current security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, there is a possibility of imposing an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If decided, approval will be sought from the federal cabinet, and the Prime Minister may convene a cabinet meeting.
The significance of this decision increases as an emergency would grant the federal government significant powers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, potential actions in the former FATA districts are under review.
It is noteworthy that decisions are expected after consideration under Articles 232 to 234. Efforts are also underway to reduce tensions among some political leaders through negotiations.
