Karachi: (RightNow) The Sindh Information Commission has rejected MQM Pakistan’s request to release the Gul Plaza inquiry report. The complaint filed in this regard has also been dismissed by the commission.

According to the commission, the Gul Plaza case is currently under investigation, and releasing the report at this stage could jeopardize the inquiry. Therefore, the report cannot be released at this time.

The commission states that once the investigation is complete and the charge sheet is submitted to the court, the relevant records will become public documents. Access to them will be possible under the law at that time.

The decision clarifies that any interference in the ongoing investigation would be against public interest. Hence, releasing the report now is not feasible.

It is noteworthy that MQM Pakistan had requested the release of the report in the Gul Plaza case. The commission has refused to release the report based on the evidence.
