Six Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Floods Triggered by Torrential Rains

Torrential rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cause floods, killing 6 people. Rescue operations are ongoing.

Khyber: (RightNow) Torrential rains in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have caused floods, resulting in the deaths of 6 people. In Landi Kotal, 4 individuals lost their lives, while 2 died in Jamrud.

According to rescue officials, a vehicle carrying an Afghan family was swept away by the floodwaters. The vehicle had 16 passengers, including women and children, out of which 13 were rescued alive, and 3 bodies were recovered.

Rescue officials reported that over 100 vehicles stranded on the Pak-Afghan highway have been moved to safety. Relief and rescue operations continue following the torrential rains.

It is important to note that heavy rains in Upper Dir have also caused flooding in streams and rivers. The water flow in the Panjkora River has increased.

Additionally, landslides in the Kaghan Valley have disrupted traffic on the Kaghan Highway. Flood conditions in Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan have damaged several villages.
