Islamabad: (RightNow) The US Consulate General in Peshawar has been closed. Responsibility for diplomatic relations with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been transferred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unit at the US Embassy in Islamabad.

According to Express News, the closure of this consulate was announced on May 5. The decision has now been implemented after one and a half months.

The US Consulate Peshawar’s social media accounts announced the closure. It was also informed that the social media accounts have been deactivated.

This move indicates a change in US diplomatic relations with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. New measures in Islamabad aim to strengthen regional ties.

It is noteworthy that the US Consulate in Peshawar had served as the center of diplomatic activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for several decades.
