Peshawar: (RightNow) The inquiry report on the Swat boat accident at Safeerullah Lake has been submitted to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The inquiry committee has held several government agencies accountable for negligence.

Led by the Secretary of Inter-Provincial Coordination, the committee blamed the police, PDMA, Rescue 1122, and other agencies for failing to fulfill their responsibilities. The report highlights several critical points.

According to the report, Section 144 was imposed in Swat, but the police and district administration failed to enforce it. The police registered 103 cases, but none related to boating.

Government sources revealed that on the day of the accident, 17 out of 37 tourism police officers were on leave. A Rescue 1122 ambulance broke down en route, and there were no female doctors at Kalam Hospital.

It is noteworthy that on July 1, a boat capsized at Safeerullah Lake, resulting in the drowning of 7 people. The inquiry committee recommended mandatory registration of boats.
