Punjab Hospital Superintendent Suspended, Doctors Protest Minister’s Visit

Sialkot: (RightNow). During a visit by the provincial health minister to Pasrur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, the hospital superintendent was suspended for running air conditioners. Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir expressed anger over ACs running in empty rooms.

The doctors’ organization ‘Doctors Wake Up Movement’ condemned the minister’s behavior. They stated that it is not right to undermine the dignity of public officials.

The provincial minister defended his action in a media talk, stating that the government has launched an austerity campaign due to the electricity crisis.

According to Dr. Naeem Mayo, surprise visits by bureaucracy are more for show than public service, causing unrest among medical staff.

It should be noted that the provincial minister expressed regret over the hospital’s mismanagement and issued immediate reform directives.
