Islamabad: (RightNow) The Ninth Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) approved the Islamabad Declaration. The conference reaffirmed the commitment to women’s social, economic, and political empowerment.

The declaration launched a new initiative to promote digital inclusion for women. Member states pledged to provide women with quality education, training, and employment opportunities.

According to the declaration, there is a need to enhance access to comprehensive financial systems, digital services, and business opportunities for women. Recommendations include capital and trade opportunities for women-led businesses.

It is noteworthy that the declaration called for international cooperation to end discrimination against Muslim women. It also urged the global community to provide legal and humanitarian assistance to women in Palestine and Kashmir.

At the conference’s conclusion, the OIC Assistant Secretary-General described women’s development as a pillar of prosperity for the Muslim Ummah. Pakistan was congratulated for leading the conference.
