Gilgit-Baltistan: (Right Now News) The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly has presented a three-month interim budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. Muhammad Ali Akhtar presented the budget, stating that resources worth 258.95 billion rupees were requested from the federal government.

The federal government has estimated a budget of 158.54 billion rupees for Gilgit-Baltistan. The budget is aimed at covering the expenses of the first quarter.

An additional revenue of 12.23 billion rupees is expected in the new fiscal year. A target of 6.09 billion rupees has been set to be obtained from non-tax revenues.

A proposal to allocate 88 billion rupees for non-development expenses has been made. A subsidy of 15 billion rupees for wheat and an expected income of 3 billion rupees from wheat sales are anticipated.

It is noteworthy that 15 billion rupees have been allocated for salaries and allowances of government employees in the interim budget. The Assembly Speaker has postponed the session for budget discussions.
