Zurich: (Right Now News) FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced the possibility of increasing the number of teams in the Football World Cup from 48 to 64. He stated that everyone should have the right to dream of participating in the World Cup.

Infantino, in an interview with a Swiss broadcaster, revealed that the proposal for a 64-team World Cup will be considered by the relevant FIFA committees.

He emphasized that the World Cup is not just for Europe and South America but for the entire world. Every country should have the opportunity to dream of participating in the World Cup.

According to Infantino, the quality of football is continuously improving worldwide, and if smaller countries are not given the chance to play in the World Cup, their motivation for development may decrease.

It is noteworthy that FIFA President has declared the inclusion of 48 teams in the 2026 World Cup a success, stating that the participation of more countries has promoted football globally.
