Cristiano Ronaldo receives a 30-day suspension and €255 fine for leaving Portugal’s team camp.
Lisbon: (RightNow) Portugal’s renowned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo faces a 30-day suspension after leaving the national team camp due to disagreements with head coach Jorge Jesus. The Portuguese Football Federation has also fined him €255.
According to Reuters, the dispute occurred before the Nations League match when Ronaldo left the team camp ahead of the game against Denmark. He was included among substitute players for the match against Norway.
Ronaldo claims that the coach broke promises by benching him for the Norway match. The coach denied any agreement, but Ronaldo’s return is not ruled out.
The disciplinary committee’s investigation confirmed Ronaldo violated rules. The federation did not specify which matches the ban affects, but aims to maintain discipline.
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo has apologized to fans and teammates. He stated he is ready to represent the national team again after serving the suspension.
